Local Memorial Day Events in Our Area

Memorial Day is the time to remember and thank all those who have served. It is also the unofficial start of summer. Here are some events happening in and around our towns:

Rye
Monday 5/29- Memorial Day Parade at 9:30am starting at Station Plaza and continuing along Purchase Street to the Village Green where there will be a ceremony at 10:00am.

Rye Playland
Sunday 5/28 – There will be a veterans picnic at 12:15pm and a performance by the West Point Band shortly after. The U.S. Marine Corps will then put on a helicopter demonstration at 2:00pm (weather permitting). The day ends with a musical performance by the Jump Start Big Band at 3:00pm.

Harrison
Monday 5/29 – Parade begins at 10:00am at Halstead Avenue.  Ceremonies following will be held in downtown Harrison.

Mamaroneck
Monday 5/29 – Mamaroneck American Legion Post No. 90 and Village of Mamaroneck will host a Memorial Day Parade and Services. Parade starts at 7:00pm at Mamaroneck Avenue School, proceeds through the village to the Veteran’s Memorial on Prospect Avenue.

Alongside parades and ceremonies dedicated to our nation’s service men and women you will also find events celebrating the kickoff to the summer season:

White Plains
Monday 5/29 – The America the Beautiful: Memorial Day 5K Run/Walk starts at 8:15am at Church Street and Main Street. To register in advance click HERE or on race day go to City Hall Parking Lot, 255 Main Street. A portion of proceeds will benefit the Veterans Administration Hospital-Montrose. There is a $40 fee to sign up the day of event.

Rye Town Beach
The Park’s “In Season” begins on the Friday before Memorial Day (5/26) and runs through Labor Day. Weather permitting, lifeguards will be on duty and the beach is open for swimming from 9:00am until 5:00pm. Parking and Beach admission fees will apply. Click Here for fees.

Rye Farmer’s Market (Sundays)
The market opened its 14th season on May 21st.  Available to shoppers is produce, poultry and eggs from area farmers, baked goods, small batch jams, pickles, artisan chocolates, locally roasted coffee and much more! You will find the Farmers Market in the parking lot off Theodore Fremd Avenue, behind the Purchase Street stores, every Sunday from 8:30am to 2:00pm.

Harrison Farmer’s Market (Saturdays)
The market opened its season on May 20th. Shop local and support the regional food system on Saturdays in Ma Riis Park (between the Public Library and the Metro North station). Each week you will find regional growers and local food makers there, with farm-fresh produce, eggs, meats, Long Island seafood, pickles, baked goods, ready-to-eat and heat-and-eat foods. The farmers market is open on Saturdays from 8:30am to 1:00pm.
