This weekend we welcome the Westchester Triathlon to Rye, rain or shine! On Saturday the Kids and Meek & Mighty categories race, while the Elite Athletes’ race begins and ends at Rye Town Park on Sunday, September 25.

Detours and Street Closings — Rye Police have issued an alert that there will be some temporary detours and street closings in the vicinity of Forest Avenue, Grace Church Street, Highland Road, Purchase Street, Theodore Fremd Avenue, Playland Parkway and Milton Point.

Spectators — here’s the schedule of events and police advise that parking violations will be enforced in the seasonal prohibition areas in the vicinity of Playland and Rye Town Park.

All net proceeds from the triathlon are donated to local charities including the Rye YMCA, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, MAC Angels for ALS, Challenged Athletes Foundation and Wounded Warrior Project.

Join the Committee to Save the Bird Homestead this weekend for a first-look cocktail party to raise funds for the continued restoration of the Meeting House on Milton Road and the neighboring Bird Homestead. On Saturday, September 24th from 6-8 pm you’ll have the opportunity to see all that has been done to date and hear about future plans for the preservation of the historic Meeting House and Bird Homestead properties.

The event promises to be a magical evening with twilight strolls on the grounds, and remarks by the Chair of the Harvard Department of History of Art and Architecture and the Preservation architect that is leading the restoration work on the Meeting House. The evening will culminate in a toast with the newly introduced Belfry Cocktail for the first ringing of the bell in many years.
