Memorial Day is the time to remember and thank all those who have served. It is also the unofficial start of summer. Here are some events happening in and around our towns:

Rye
Monday 5/28- Memorial Day Parade at 9:30am starting at Rye Train Station and continuing along Purchase Street to the Village Green where there will be a ceremony at 10:30am.

Rye Playland
The Beach at Playland opens for some pre-season fun this weekend (May 26-May 28).
Saturday 5/26 – 90th anniversary celebration includes vintage cars, DJ and rides (discount admission).
Sunday 5/27 – Veterans Appreciation Day with US Marine Helicopter Raid Demo at 12:15pm.

Harrison
Monday 5/28 – Parade begins at 10:00am at Halstead Avenue to Ma Riis Park. Ceremony to follow.

Mamaroneck
Monday 5/28 – Mamaroneck American Legion Post No. 90 and Village of Mamaroneck will host a Memorial Day Parade and Services. Parade starts at 7:00pm at Mamaroneck Avenue School, proceeds through the village to the Veteran’s Memorial on Prospect Avenue. Ceremony to follow.

2018 SPECIAL SUMMER EVENTS & PROGRAMS
Rye Town Park is a great place to be to enjoy a wide range of cultural events at our wonderful parkland setting.  All the events and programs are free of charge.

Twilight Concert Series
Location: South Pavilion (with lots of room for sitting outdoors on the lawn or beach)
Time: 7:30-9:00pm (Picnicking is welcome starting at 6:00pm)
Concerts are normally held rain or shine, except in heavy thunderstorms.  There are two rain dates scheduled, if needed.

The staff of the Rye Free Reading Room will be leading young children and their caregivers in a fun and educational series of reading, games and other activities.
Location: South Pavilion
Day/Time:  Tuesdays from 9:30-10:15am (July 10 thru August 28)
The programs will be held rain or shine.

Outdoor Family Magic Show And Outdoor Movie
Location: Lawn by the North Beach Entrance and Snack Bar Building
Date: July 12th
Time: Magic Show Begins at 7:00pm (45 minutes) and Movie Begins at 8:30pm (84 minutes)
Movie: Gnomio and Juliet – features music by Elton John and the voices of many well-known actors.

Shakespeare In The Park
Lawnchair Theatre company will present performance of The real Shakespeare in the Park –  “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”
Location: Lawn by the Small Pavilion
Dates: Friday, July 27 and Saturday, July 28
Times: 6:30 to 9:00pm

Songs For Seeds
Songs for seeds is not only about the music (but the music is great). The programs engage kids all while laying the foundation of early childhood education through musical activities.
Location: South Pavilion
Date: September 2nd
Time: 11:00am (45 minutes)

A TASTE OF MAMARONECK WINE TRAIL – REPOST

Hosted by the Chamber of Commerce this exciting (and tasty) event gives you the opportunity to ride a trolley to village restaurants to taste wine and sample foods.

Date: Sunday, May 6th
Cost: $50 in Advance | $60 at Registration
Registration: 12:30pm on 5/6 at Harbor Island Park (trolley runs from 1-5pm)

Westchester Magazine’s 2018 Wine & Food Festival
Dates: June 5 – June 10
A not-to-be missed experience celebrating the culinary spirit of Westchester County. Seven events held over seven days in June will be a feast of gourmet food, wines, beer, best burgers in the county, award-winning chefs and much more. On Sunday, June 10th there is a Junior Chef Experience as well.

Sound Shore St. Patrick’s Day Parade
Celebrate Irish culture and help raise funds for college scholarships for local children.
Date: Sunday, March 18th
Time: 1:30-4:00pm
Location: Mamaroneck Avenue

Irish Fleadh at St. Augustine’s Church
An afternoon with family and friends. Performance by the band of Bernadette Fee the “Wild Irish Rovers.” Great opportunity to kick up your heels and participate in some Irish dancing. Refreshments to be served, arts and crafts for children.

Time: 2:30-4:45pm
