Houlihan Lawrence Horse & Buggy at Mistletoe Magic                 Photo credit: Ken Liebeskind

Hope you had a chance to enjoy the Houlihan Lawrence horse and buggy during the Mistletoe Magic Festival last Sunday — it was a great turnout of both merchants and residents alike. I’m proud that Houlihan Lawrence was a Lead Sponsor in the event, it was fun to see so many families and little ones enjoying the day in town.

With this in mind, I’ve decided to follow Houlihan Lawrence’s lead and continue this goodwill through the holiday season —

Visit my Facebook page during the month of December and click “Like.”

At the end of the month, I’ll donate $1 to the Rye Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Fund for each new fan!

The Scholarship is awarded to students in our community who are employed by Chamber merchants. Please share this promotion with your friends – let’s give the Scholarship Fund a great donation at the end of the month!

Back in August, I posted an article from Money Magazine that heralded Harrison, NY as one of the “2011 Best Places to Live.” Reading a copy of the school district’s newsletter, Highlights recently, I’m reminded why the school system plays such an important role in that designation.

Download a copy of their recent newsletter here or visit the Harrison Central School Districts’s website to learn more about the comprehensive transition plan for 9th graders into high school and the results of the third graders’ grant-funded opportunity to explore photography with visiting artists from the Lincoln Center Institute, among other notable achievements. It’s easy to see why Harrison High School was ranked Best High School in Westchester County and #4 in the State of New York as well as #71 nationally according to The Washington Post High School Challenge  — what a great advantage to living in Harrison!

Last Year's Mistletoe Magic

After Thanksgiving, there’s ample opportunity to walk off the bird at this weekend’s great event traditions. On Saturday, November 26th, Rye Recreation’s Annual Turkey Trot Run will begin at 9am with a “Paws” Walk with your canine friends, followed by the 1 Mile “Fun Run” at 9:30am and the Competitive 3.1 or 5.2 Mile Races beginning at 10am. Download your registration form here, it’s not too late to sign up!

On Sunday, November 27th another time-honored tradition takes place, and I’m proud to announce that Houlihan Lawrence is one of its Lead Sponsors — the Mistletoe Magic Family Festival. Inspired by the season of giving, this event on Sunday from 12-3pm along Purchase Street is the local merchants way of saying thank you to the community for their patronage throughout the year. Fun includes horse drawn carriage rides, magician, holiday crafts, bounce castle, pony rides, musical performances — and of course, Santa!

For more information about the variety of events and the festival participants, download the event flyer here.

A highlight of the festival will be the raffle to benefit the Rye Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Fund which is awarded to students in our community who are employed by Chamber merchants. Tickets will sell for $1 each (or 6 for $5) and the drawing will be held at 3pm. The prizes are donated by some of Rye’s favorite merchants including Piazza Pizza, Le Panetiere, Rye Grill and Bar, Ruby’s, Morgan’s, Twinkle Toes, All Paws, Wish, Great Stuff and Shoes & More.

Don’t miss these great days of fun!
