Did you know that Rye’s own John Jay was one of New York State’s only native Founding Fathers? Learn more about this fascinating local forefather while spending a wonderful fall day with the family this Sunday, September 23rd from 11am-4pm during the Jay Day Fall Festival. Held in conjunction with the Hudson River Ramble, this annual event at the Jay Heritage Center at 210 Boston Post Road in Rye always draws a great crowd and costs only $30 per family for a whole day’s fun.

There’s something for everyone in the family — from music on the veranda and costumed tours of the estate to face painting and rare American heritage farm animals to view. Kids can even build their own Greek Revival building resembling the mansion built by Peter Augustus Jay in a mini-architecture workshop. There will be delicious farmer’s market delicacies, cheese tastings and seasonal refreshments to keep everyone happy.

Don’t you just love this time of year in our area?
